This privacy policy explains how SmoothCommit Sàrl (owner of the CopyTrans brand and data controller, hereinafter “we”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit this website and use CopyTrans software, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. What data do we collect when you visit the website?
Browsing data: We collect information about the way you browse our website through Google Analytics and Yandex.Metrica: device type, approximate geographical location, language, browser, and visited pages. This helps us optimize our website.
Purchase data: Our transactions are secure and processed by our official reseller (Merchant of Record), Paddle. Paddle collects your billing and payment information. We never have access to your credit card numbers. We only collect the basic information required from Paddle to generate your license and provide support: your name, postal address, and email address.
Contact data: If you sign up to be notified about the release of our new apps or to receive special offers, we collect your email address with your consent.
2. What data do we collect when you use CopyTrans software?
Technical data and error reports: By default, the software sends anonymized error logs. We use these logs based on our legitimate interest to resolve technical issues and improve software stability. This option can be disabled at any time in the application settings.
Activation data: When the software is activated, we collect basic information about your computer to validate your license (anti-piracy measures): PC name, IP address, date, and time of activation.
Trial versions: While using a trial version of the program, you may be asked to submit your email address to unlock extra trial actions.
3. Why do we collect this data (Legal bases)?
- Contract execution: To process your order, generate your activation codes, and provide technical customer support.
- Legal obligation: To comply with our accounting and tax obligations.
- Legitimate interest: To analyze our website’s performance and fix bugs in our software.
- Consent: To send newsletters or promotional offers.
4. How long do we store your data?
Under French tax and commercial legislation, we are required to keep billing data (name and address) for a minimum of 10 years. Data related to your software licenses (email, activation keys) is kept as long as you use our services, allowing you to reactivate your products at any time.
You can request the complete deletion of your data at any time (see the “Your rights” section). Please note that in this case, it will no longer be possible to activate or recover your software.
5. Is your data shared?
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share any personal data with third parties.
Your data is only shared with our trusted subcontractors who apply their own strict security policies: Paddle (payments and billing), Google Analytics and Yandex.Metrica (website statistics), Disqus (comments management), and ActiveCampaign (email marketing).
6. Your data rights (GDPR)
In accordance with European regulations, you have the following rights regarding your personal data: right of access, rectification, erasure (right to be forgotten), restriction of processing, and right to object.
To exercise these rights or request a copy of the information we hold about you, please email us at: copytrans@copytrans.net.
7. Marketing and Newsletters
We occasionally send promotional emails about new products and special offers that may be of interest to you. You will only receive these emails if you have consented to them. If you do not want to receive any emails, you may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any of our emails.
