You can easily transfer BlackBerry contacts to iPhone using CopyTrans Contacts. It works with all BlackBerry models and iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch models. In this demonstration we’ll be using a BlackBerry Bold 9700 and an iPhone 5.

Update: It also works with the new iOS 7 and iPhone 5s / 5c

Let’s backup the Blackberry contacts

  1. The first step is to get the contacts from the BlackBerry. For the purpose, you need to download and install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager for PC. The BlackBerry Desktop Manager is a free software developed by BlackBerry. You can download it from here:

  2. Run the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and connect your BlackBerry through USB run BlackBerry Desktop Manager

  3. It’s always a good idea to make a backup of your BlackBerry first. Click “Back up now” BlackBerry backup

  4. In the settings window under “Backup type” select “Full” and start the backup by clicking “Back up” BlackBerry backup settings

  5. Wait for the BlackBerry backup to complete… BlackBerry backup progress

  6. Once the backup is complete, go to “Organizer” and click “Configure settings…” configure sync settings in blackberry desktop software

    NOTE: If the Contacts option is greyed-out and shows “(syncing wirelessly)”, this means that you are currently syncing the BlackBerry contacts to an online service. You need to turn off wireless synchronization from within your BlackBerry by following these directions. If the wireless sync option is not available on the BlackBerry, consult this troubleshooting article.

  7. In the popup window, check “Address Book” and make sure all the other boxes are unchecked as on the screenshot select blackberry application to sync from intellisync window

  8. Select “Windows Contacts” and click “Next” select a desktop application in blackberry address book setup window
    NOTE: if the Windows Contacts does not appear as an option, please select “Microsoft Outlook” instead. You will then be able to directly transfer the contacts from Outlook to iPhone

  9. Under “Direction of synchronization” choose “One way sync from Device”. Click “Next” blackberry contacts synchronization options during address book setup

  10. Click “Finish” complete blackberry address book setup wizard by clicking finish

  11. Next, click “OK” ok button in blackberry desktop intellisync window

  12. To start the transfer of BlackBerry contacts, click “Sync” sync contacts button in blackberry desktop software

  13. Review the changes that will take place and click “Accept” prompt to accept the address book changes made

  14. Your BlackBerry contacts are now backed up in the form of Windows Contacts on your PC BlackBerry contacts saved as Windows Contacts on PC

    NOTE: under Windows 7 and Vista, the contacts are located in:
    C:\Users\Username\Contacts.

    On Windows XP, the default contact location is found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Address Book.

Restore Blackberry contacts to iPhone

Now it’s time to transfer the contacts to the iPhone. This is where CopyTrans Contacts comes in handy as the program is designed to transfer contact files from the PC to the iPhone.

  1. Download CopyTrans Contacts from the following page

  3. Run CopyTrans Contacts. The main program window shows up. Connect the iPhone copytrans main window ready to transfer bb contacts to iphone

  4. Open the PC folder where you saved the BlackBerry contacts. Select all the contacts you wish to transfer. To select all contacts in the folder, press CTRL + A blackberry contacts to iphone

    NOTE: under Windows 7 and Vista, the contacts are located in:

    On Windows XP, the default contact location is found here:
