If you previously backed up your Windows iTunes library with CopyTrans TuneSwift, you can restore the iTunes backup file to a Mac computer. This allows you to bring the complete contents of the Windows iTunes library to your Mac.

Let’s restore the iTunes library to Mac

  1. Download the Mac restore version of CopyTrans TuneSwift CopyTrans TuneSwift restore application for Mac

  2. Go to the “Downloads” folder on your Mac and select the .dmg archive: the archive with .dmg extention

  3. Put CopyTrans TuneSwift program file into “Applications”: Placing CopyTrans TuneSwift program file into "Applications"

  4. The following message will pop up: “CopyTrans TuneSwift can’t be open because it is from an unidentified developer”. (Your security preferences allow only installation of only apps from Mac App Store and identified developers): "CopyTrans TuneSwift can't be open because it is from an unidentified developer". (Your security preferences allow only installation of only apps from Mac App Store and identified developers)

  5. To adjust your security preferences on your Mac go to “Settings” and select “Security and Privacy”: Go to "Settings" and select "Security and Privacy" on your Mac

  6. In the tab “General”, first click the lock to make changes (tap on an icon in the left corner at the bottom of the window) and then check the box “Anywhere” in the section “Allow applications downloaded from”: click the lock to make changes and check the box "Anywhere"

  7. Tap on “Allow from Anywhere” in the pop-up asking you to confirm your decision: Tap on "Allow from Anywhere" in the pop-up

  8. Open the .dmg archive and install CopyTrans TuneSwift.

  9. Start CopyTrans TuneSwift: Start CopyTrans TuneSwift

  10. Connect the external hard drive, which contains your iTunes library transfer file, to the Mac.

  11. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the backup*: Follow the on-screen instructions

  12. The restore can be long and there is no progress bar (yet), so please be patient.

  13. When opening iTunes please hold down the “Alt” key and select your iTunes library.

  14. Congratulations, your entire iTunes library is back on your Mac!

* Note: CopyTrans TuneSwift splits the whole backup into smaller 4Gb files and saves them as: .tsw, .tsw1,.tsw2 etc. Select just the very first file (which is .tsw). The other files, being linked to the first one, will be added automatically.
