This page shows how to import into iTunes a manual backup made with CopyTrans.

Step 1: Adjust iTunes settings

  1. Open iTunes

  2. Press the ALT button on your keyboard. The iTunes menu bar appears on top itunes settings menu press alt

  3. Click Edit > Preferences and in the window that opens go to the Advanced tab advanced itunes preferences

  4. Uncheck the options “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” and “Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library” as shown below and click OK itunes disable keep itunes media folder organized

Step 2: Import your backup in iTunes

  1. In iTunes, click File > Library > Import Playlist… (just File > Import… in iTunes 7 and earlier versions) import playlist to itunes on pc

  2. In the Import window that opens, make sure the file type is set to “All files” set file-type to all files in browse-to window

  3. Navigate to the PC folder where you backed up the iDevice contents, select “_iPodBackupLibrary.xml” and click Open _iPodBackupLibrary.xml

You’re all set! Your songs, playlists and other precious data have been imported into iTunes!
