Note: If your iPod is not detected please follow these troubleshooting tips.

Note: Right click a column name to hide or show additional track details.
Select a track or playlist for backup by ticking its checkbox.
Note: Marking a playlist for backup will automatically select all associated tracks.
Double click a track to mark it for backup.
To select all visible tracks, right click and select "Check All" (you can also use the "Ctrl+A" keyboard shortcut).
If iTunes is installed, CopyTrans automatically detects the differences between the iPod/iPhone and iTunes library. It determines which iPod tracks need to be transferred, need an update, are missing in a playlist and those that can be safely skipped.
This track is not in iTunes. Track should be transferred.
This track is in iTunes but not up-to-date. Track should be updated.
This track is in iTunes and up-to-date. Track will be skipped.
The "CopyTrans is ready to backup" window appears and lets you choose to customize:
iTunes music folder:
Location of your iTunes music folder (i.e. where your track files will be copied to).
File and folder naming preview:
How will track files be named and organized within the iTunes music folder.
iTunes import:
Which track information will be transferred.
Folder name options:
Decide how folders and subfolders should be generated.
Note: If you want all your track files to end up in a unique folder (no subfolders) set all 3 drop down menus to blank.
File name options:
Customize how each track file should be named.
This will modify the track file names in the iTunes music folder and not their titles in iTunes.
To further customize file and folder naming:
Import iPod songs with:
Select exactly what track information should be backed-up to iTunes.
Import iPod playlists:
Defines if CopyTrans should or not backup selected playlists.
Add prefix to playlist name:
Date or assign all playlists to a user (e.g. 11-10-2009 Rock or David Rock).
When satisfied with custom settings return to the "CopyTrans is ready to backup" window and click "Start Backup".
The "Backup in progress" window will appear and CopyTrans will start copying files. Copy time will depend on how many tracks are selected for backup.
Once all tracks have been copied, a new window will inform you of the backup summary.
All chosen tracks, track information, artworks and playlists are now back in iTunes exactly the way you wanted them to.
Note: Depending on the number of tracks you are recovering, iTunes can take up to 45 minutes to refresh the music library. It may seem that iTunes is frozen during this time.
Once tracks to transfer have been selected, click the "Backup to Folder" button.
You will be asked to select the folder or external hard-drive where tracks should be backed up.

Note: Due to iTunes limitations, when using the above mentioned import into iTunes option after a "Backup to Folder", some track information will not be imported back into iTunes (i.e. Date Added).
