Move your old iPod's music library to a new one
This page will show you how to create a backup image of your iPod.
Create a backup image of your iPod (call it copy, mirror, ghost if that suits you better)
Note: all the operations you will perform to create a backup image of your iPod will take place in the UPPER HALF of iCloner called "Backup".
Start by selecting the iPod you wish to back up.
Then click the "Browse..." button.
In the window that appears, give a name to your backup file (for instance the date of the backup or the name of the iPod owner) and choose a destination folder for this file on your computer. Click "Save".
Finally, hit the "Start backup" button.
The backup of your iPod has now started
Once the backup is complete, you can go the destination folder and check that the backup image was indeed created.
Notes:
- Backup images created by iCloner cannot be directly imported to iTunes. If you need to do so, just read the next page and, once your iPod is restored with the backup image, you'll be able to import the content of your iPod to iTunes with CopyTrans.
- Even if it may sound obvious, do not store your backup image on your iPod itself. Indeed, if you do so, the backup image would be erased when you restore your iPod from it.
